Ecological Pest Management

The information provided so far in all the preceding chapters forms the basis for this chapter and culminates in Ecological Pest Management. The chapter starts with causes for outbreak of pests in agro-ecosystem, and sequential events that lead to the development of Integrated Pest Management concept. This chapter also discusses the present status of IPM across globe and the need for the development of alternate strategy such as Ecological Pest Management. The participatory role of stakeholders and the role of policy makers in formulating strategies such as PES (Payment for Ecosystem Services) and their impact on agriculture has been touched upon.
