Health district offers new flu vaccines

Starting Monday, the Southern Nevada Health District will begin administering a new flu vaccine for the season.

Starting Monday, the Southern Nevada Health District will begin administering a new flu vaccine for the season.

For the first time, a vaccination protecting against four strains of the flu is being offered. Health clinics will open Sept. 23 and offer injections as well as an inhaled mist, according to the health district.

The vaccine contains two strains each of influenza A and B. A three-strain version will remain available for children 6-35 months through the Vaccines for Children program.

The vaccine will be available at these locations and times:

- Main Public Health Center, 330 S. Valley View Blvd., Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

- East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

- Henderson Public Health Center, 520 E. Lake Mead Parkway, Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m–5:30 p.m.

- North Las Vegas Public Health Center, 955 W. Craig Rd., Suite 103D, Monday–Friday, 8a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.–4:30 p.m.

- Mesquite Public Health Center, 830 Hafen Lane, Mesquite, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m.

- In Laughlin for Nevada residents only: Friday, Nov. 8, at 3080 S. Needles Highway, Suite, 1800, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
